WoW Forever

WoW Forever Gold Price Next to Classic and Retail

Forever opens on November 4, 2026 at $0.07 per gold. That figure only means something next to the others, so here it sits beside every Classic version with offers and beside the Token.

Rates posted for launch day

Launch rates already posted for November 4, 2026, set beside what beta gold sells for on the open market today. None of it can be bought yet, so there is no stock figure here: the game has not shipped.

Beta gold is a separate product, and you can buy it today: 8 live offers from $0.08 per gold, on every ruleset and for both factions. The beta is a level-30 test realm, and what you build there may be wiped at launch.

Rates are in US dollars per single gold piece. The market column is the lowest live listing on the open market for the same gameplay style, read on October 15, 2026; beta gold is the only Forever gold anyone can buy today, so it is the one real price this market has. The launch rates are due to be revised on November 18, after two weeks of real trades.

Forever next to every other version

A rate on its own says little. This site lists gold for every live version of the game, so whether $0.07 per gold is a lot can be checked against real numbers instead of a hunch.

VersionPer gold1,000 goldCheapest realm we list
WoW Forever from November 4 $0.07 $70.00 no realms — one world per region
Anniversary $0.0037 $3.70 Dreamscythe
MoP Classic $0.000263 $0.26 Atiesh
Retail $0.000058 $0.06 Area 52
Retail, via the WoW Token $0.000074 $0.07 Blizzard's own rate, US region

Each line shows the cheapest realm with offers in that version, per single gold piece and per thousand. Classic Era and versions without a seller are not in the table. The Token line is Blizzard's own price: $20.00 for 269,801 gold in the US region, read October 15, 2026.

Reading the gap between versions

The Token caps retail prices

Anyone in retail can buy gold from Blizzard through the Token, so sellers cannot climb far above that price and the market settles close to it. Forever has neither a Token nor boosts: no official supply, and nothing holding the price down.

Old economies sell gold cheaply

The Classic realms in the table have built up gold for years, with large reserves and well-worn farming routes, so a dollar goes a long way there. Forever starts with an empty world on November 4, 2026, and its first weeks are priced like it.

A fixed cap keeps gold's value

Every other version here has had expansions that turned an old fortune into small change. Forever stays at level 60 for good, so a thousand gold should keep buying about the same things for as long as the game runs, which matters when you compare it with anything else on this page.

Buying Forever gold, step by step

No realm to pick

Every region runs one mega-server, so the old Classic problem of a seller on the wrong realm, waiting on a transfer, does not come up. You choose the region, the gameplay style and the faction, and the seller is already in your world.

Faction still decides it

Mail and trade work only within a faction, so a rate is useful only when it is for your side. Gold ordered for the other faction cannot reach your character.

Mail or a trade

Gold arrives by in-game mail, which works across layers, or in a face-to-face trade after a party invite puts you on the same layer. All the seller needs is the character name and faction; nobody asks for a password or an authenticator code.

Dates to know

  • Until October 21, 2026 — the level-30 beta stays open, and it is wiped when it closes. Gold sold as “Forever gold” before launch is gold on a test character.
  • November 4, 2026, 3:00 p.m. PST — the servers open with an empty economy, and the launch rates above apply.
  • November 18 — the launch rates are revised against two weeks of real trading, and this page follows the market.

Questions and answers

Why does Forever gold cost so much more than retail gold?

The two share a name and nothing else. At Blizzard's Token rate a thousand retail gold comes to $0.07, while a thousand Forever gold is $70.00. Same number, very different purchasing power.

Retail characters earn gold faster than they can spend it, and an epic mount barely registers. Forever keeps the level-60 cap, where a thousand gold is the biggest purchase most characters will ever make, and only players bring new gold into the world.

Does Forever gold cost more than Classic gold?

For now, by a wide margin: a thousand gold is $70.00 in Forever and $0.06 on Retail, the lowest line in the table. A brand-new world simply has no supply yet.

Expect the gap to narrow, not to close. Forever rates should drop as more players farm, but Classic realms have spent years piling up gold, and Forever starts at zero on November 4, 2026.

Can gold from Classic or retail be moved into Forever?

No. Each version keeps its own economy, and no auction house, mailbox or character transfer links them. Gold sitting on an Anniversary or retail character does nothing for a Forever one.

For the same reason, a Forever rate and a realm rate are not two prices for one product. They belong to separate markets that use the same word for money.

Is it better to buy on launch day or later?

Launch week is when Forever gold is at its dearest: everyone wants it and almost nobody has farmed any. Each week after adds more farmers, and the rate tends to follow them down.

The launch rates on this page are due to be revised on November 18, once two weeks of real trades exist. If your plans can wait that long, waiting is likely to cost less.

I am starting fresh. Which version's gold should I buy?

Choose the game first and the gold second. Forever is a new level-60 world with no Token and no boosts; the Classic versions are long-running economies where a dollar buys much more gold; retail is another game again, with gold sold by Blizzard itself through the Token.

This page gives you the cost of each, in the table above, and every realm page explains what stands behind its own rate.
