The Venomous Abyss: where this season's raiding happens

Season 2 of Midnight is built around The Venomous Abyss, so that is where our raid catalog begins. Eight bosses stand between the entrance and a full clear: Nek'zali the Soulcoiler, the Entombed Sentinels, The Lost Explorers, Vashnik the Malignant, Sszorak, The Twin Fangs, The Coiled Altar and Ula'tek. Ula'tek is also the name on this season's Ahead of the Curve, which makes this one raid the place for both gear and the achievement. A Venomous Abyss boost takes a different shape on each difficulty.

Venomous Abyss Normal carry

On Normal we sell one thing: the complete clear, all eight bosses in a single run. Drops land at item level 292–302 and include tier tokens. Unsaved group loot is part of the base order here, so whatever the boosters pass on ends up with you before any upgrade. It is the order for an alt, a character back from a break, or anyone who wants to see the fights without pressure, and the Venomous Abyss Normal boost lays out its loot options.

Venomous Abyss Heroic boost

Heroic hits harder and pays better, with gear at item level 305–318. The full Heroic clear is the run that brings Ahead of the Curve. Heroic is also the only difficulty we split up: you can buy six of the eight bosses, or just the final pair, and that two-boss run comes with group loot only. Every Heroic run is compared on the Venomous Abyss Heroic carry page.

Mythic Venomous Abyss boost, bundled

Mythic is not a separate run in our catalog. It comes in a bundle with Tidebound Grotto, where you choose how many Venomous Abyss bosses to take, anywhere from two to all eight, and every Mythic order runs on full loot priority. The bundle lists gear up to item level 344 and a mount on Mythic; the checkout options show which boss count includes the mount.

More raid boosts this season

Tidebound Grotto carry

The second raid of the season is sold as a single kill, Nymrissa Wavecaller, on any of the three difficulties. Order the kill by itself, attach it to a full Normal or Heroic Venomous Abyss run, or buy both raids together in the bundle. The gear spans item level 292–318, and the kill counts toward your Great Vault, so it adds one more raid boss to your weekly reward. Details are on the Tidebound Grotto boost page.

Season 1 raid boss kills

Three bosses from last season's raids are still in our catalog as single kills: Crown of the Cosmos, Chimaerus and Belo'ren, Child of Al'ar. Each one can be ordered on Normal, Heroic or Mythic, and each comes with group loot. Their drops top out at item level 279, far under the current tier, so these kills are for transmog, achievements and collections rather than for raising your item level.

Raid achievements we carry

AOTC boost for Ahead of the Curve: Ula'tek

For this season's achievement, Ula'tek has to fall on Heroic or above, inside The Venomous Abyss, before Midnight Season 2 ends. We include it with the full Heroic run. That means an AOTC boost here is a whole Heroic clear, and your chances at Heroic loot from all eight bosses come with it. The achievement sits on your character's profile, where raid leaders often look before inviting. It has a deadline: when the season closes, this Ahead of the Curve is gone for anyone who missed it, and it stays forever with those who got it.

Glory of the Midnight Raider carry

Glory of the Midnight Raider is a meta-achievement. It completes when a list of Midnight raid achievements is done, and it rewards the Tenebrous Harrower mount. Our carry spans three Midnight raids and is sold as the whole meta or piece by piece, so you pay only for what your character still lacks. Pick the pieces on the Glory of the Midnight Raider boost page.

Why players order a WoW raid boost

A raid is the biggest group activity in World of Warcraft: one long instance, a chain of bosses, and a full group needed to get through it. A WoW raid boost, also called a raid carry, gives your character a seat with seasoned raiders who finish the instance on the difficulty you chose. Play along yourself, or hand the run to a booster.

  • Some rewards drop nowhere but in a raid: tier pieces, one-of-a-kind trinkets, Mythic mounts. Your character gets one weekly shot at each difficulty's loot, and a booked carry keeps that shot from going to waste in a week without a group.
  • The achievement for a current-tier Heroic kill can no longer be earned once its tier ends, so there is a window to get it.
  • Two mounts come from raiding this season: the reward for the Midnight raid meta-achievement and the mount tied to Mythic.
  • Raiding usually means a whole roster online at one hour for an entire evening. Our raid teams have the fights down, so the clear fits your week instead.

Normal, Heroic or Mythic: how to choose

Normal raid carry

Normal is where raiding starts. Every boss has its full set of mechanics, yet the fights forgive mistakes, and no full clear this season costs less. Take it for an alt, for a returning character, or to start collecting tier pieces before stepping up.

Heroic raid boost

Heroic keeps the same mechanics and adds heavier damage, and the loot climbs a full step. It is the difficulty Ahead of the Curve asks for, and the partial Heroic runs exist for players who need only part of the raid.

Mythic raid carry

Mythic is the top difficulty. Raiders there need near-perfect execution, since a single slip by one person can end the pull for everyone, and the payoff is the highest item level plus the raid mount.

Single boss kills

Sometimes one boss is all you need: one missing item, one achievement step, one more boss for the week. For that we sell the Nymrissa Wavecaller kill, a Heroic run limited to the final two bosses of The Venomous Abyss, and each Season 1 kill separately.

Still unsure? Match the order to the goal:

  • Gearing a new character or an alt: take a complete Normal or Heroic clear and add a loot option that routes drops to you.
  • The achievement: the complete Heroic clear of The Venomous Abyss.
  • A mount: the Midnight raid meta-achievement, or Mythic through the bundle.
  • One boss or one item: one kill, or Heroic split into fewer bosses.
  • Both current raids in one go: the bundle, on whichever difficulty you prefer.

Raid loot explained

Item level by difficulty

The harder the difficulty, the better the drops. In The Venomous Abyss, Normal gives item level 292–302 plus tier tokens, Heroic 305–318, and Mythic in the bundle reaches 344. Nymrissa Wavecaller drops 292–318; last season's three bosses sit at 250–279. Let the content you plan to play next decide: the item level you want to walk in with points to the difficulty.

How loot options work

A boss leaves only a handful of items for the entire raid, and everyone in the group shares them. Loot options decide how many of those reach you. With group loot you roll against the raid. Unsaved group loot hands you anything a booster has no use for. Armor-type and token priority stacks the raid with boosters in the same armor class as you, raising the odds that pieces and tokens are traded your way, with no promise attached. Full loot priority sends you every item that suits your character. Each priority option carries an items-per-boss range in its name; those ranges are our estimates, not a guarantee. Boosters hand items over by trading them, which the game allows between raid members for a short while after each kill.

Weekly lockout and the Great Vault

Raids reset once a week. Once a boss is dead for your character on a given difficulty, that boss is done giving you loot there until the reset, whether you or a booster was playing. On top of that, the Great Vault offers one more item every week, picked from options built on the raid bosses you killed, so a kill that gave you nothing still pays off later. It is also why gearing a character fully through raids takes several weeks, whoever sits at the keyboard.

What happens after checkout

Everything is picked at checkout: which raid, how hard, how many bosses, how loot is split and who plays. You pay in the same place. Then we put a raid team on your order, and the order chat becomes the place to agree on a start time and to follow the run through updates and screenshots.

Self-play, piloted or remote control

If you choose self-play, you get an invite to the boosters' group and a summon into the raid. Most teams will ask you to stand clear of boss mechanics and do what the raid leader says, which keeps things moving. With a piloted order, a booster logs in to your character and handles the raid while you do something else. With remote control, the booster connects to a session on your PC and plays from there. Whichever way you pick, every item covered by your loot option is traded over once the boss is down.

Before the run starts

For self-play, be online at the agreed time and ready to be summoned. For a piloted order, agree on the time and stay logged out until the team reports the run is done. In both cases, check which bosses you have already killed this week on that difficulty, since those kills will not give you loot again before the reset.

WoW raid carry questions

What does a WoW raid boost include?

Seasoned raiders clear the bosses with you in the group, or play your character for you. Before that you decide on the raid, its difficulty and how loot is split. That is all a raid carry is.

Which raids can I buy a carry for in Season 2?

Two current ones. The Venomous Abyss has eight bosses, Ula'tek among them, and Ula'tek is the boss behind this season's AOTC. Tidebound Grotto comes as one kill, Nymrissa Wavecaller. On top of these, Crown of the Cosmos, Chimaerus and Belo'ren, Child of Al'ar from Season 1 can be bought individually.

How do I get Ahead of the Curve this season?

Kill Ula'tek on Heroic or a harder setting before Midnight Season 2 is over. The achievement's full name is Ahead of the Curve: Ula'tek. Our complete Heroic clear comes with it, and from then on it shows on your profile.

Normal, Heroic or Mythic: which one should I buy?

Pick Normal for forgiving fights at the lowest cost per clear. Pick Heroic for stronger gear and for AOTC: the fights are the same, only harsher. Pick Mythic for the best item level and the raid mount, knowing that one slip can wipe everyone.

Am I certain to get items from the run?

Only as far as your loot option reaches. Group loot means rolling against everyone. Unsaved group loot passes you whatever the boosters skip. With the priority options, boosters in your armor class join and items get traded to you, aiming at the per-boss range named in the option, which is our estimate.

Can I order one boss instead of the whole raid?

Yes. Nymrissa Wavecaller and each Season 1 boss can be ordered as one kill. Heroic Venomous Abyss can be cut down to 6/8 or to its final pair, and in the Mythic bundle the price follows your boss count.

Will the carry use up my weekly lockout?

It will. Whoever played, the kill belongs to your character on that difficulty, and the boss has no more loot for you until the weekly reset. Raiding with a guild too? Then buy bosses or a difficulty the guild is not doing that week.

Do I have to play during the raid?

Only with self-play, where you are in the raid group on your own character and need to be online. With piloted, a booster logs in and plays for you. The third way is remote control: the booster works from a session on your PC.

How long will my raid carry take?

It varies with difficulty and with the size of the order: one kill or a two-boss run is over much sooner than all eight bosses. After you order, you and the raid team settle the start time in the order chat.
